Daily Punch 8-24-16 Force Ball cantrip for DnD 5e

Let’s do a few spells.  I have a few quick ideas that will go rapid fire!
Force Ball

Evocation cantrip

Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 50 feet
Components: V, S
Duration: Instantaneous

Through shear force of will, you conjure and throw a ball of pure energy at a creature or object within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d6 force damage. Insubstantial creatures or creatures with powers that avoid attacks such as displacement as a displacer beast suffer full damage and the attack does not suffers disadvantage.

This spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).

Daily Punch 2-22-16 Big for Your Size feat for DnD 5e

The smaller races don’t get much love in this edition, but I think we can change that and build something that everyone can enjoy!

Big for Your Size

You stand as a Titan among your peers.  You’re a biggun’ and you know how to use that to your advantage.  gain the following:

  • Increase your Constitution or Stregnth by 1 to a maximum of 20.
  • You can wield weapons up to two size categories bigger than normal with no penalty 
  • Your base fist or unarmed attack increase by one size.  As an example a human would increase from a 1 to a 1d4.

Daily Punch 12-30-15 Second Sword Spell for DnD 5e

Let’s keep building on the them of the Eldritch Knight.  How about some weapon based spells for above 0-level?

 

Second Sword
1st-level conjuration
Casting Time: 1 bonus action
Range: touch
Components: V, S, M (a weapon)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
When you touch a weapon while casting this spell, you imbue it with a piece of your will.  This weapon can float five feet high, move, and make attacks for you while you concentrate on the spell.  Each turn as a bonus action or action, you can command the weapon to make one attack for you using your melee spell casting attack bonus.  The weapons damage type is the same are the weapon’s normal damage.  When you move, you can mentally command the weapon to move up to 30 feet as well.

When the spell ends, the weapon flies back to your hand.  If your hands are full, then it falls at your feet.

Daily Punch 12-29-15 Spell Swing feat for DnD 5e

I think Eldritch Knights get a bit of the short stick (or sword!).  Let’s work on making them that much more awesome!

Spell Swing

Enemies fall before your sword as much as your spells, and you’ve learned to effectively combine the two to become a spell storm of destruction.  Gain the following benefits:

  • Increase your Constitution, Dexterity, or Strength by 1, to a maximum of 20.
  • When you cast a wizard or sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher, as a bonus action, you may take an attack action taking all attacks that action would grant you.

Daily Punch 10-23-15 Critically Fast feat for DnD5e

We have Critically Fast for Pathfinder, so let’s make it for DnD 5e.

Critically Fast

You move so fast you’re a blur to the eye!  Gain the following benefits:

  • Increase your dexterity by 1 to a maximum of 20.
  • Gain a +2 bonus to initiative checks.
  • When you roll initiative at the start of combat and you roll a result that would normally be a critical for you, you gain advantage on all dice roll for the first round of combat.  If you would normally have advantage at the start of combat due to class features or being hidden, you gain advantage during the first and second rounds of combat.

Daily Punch 8-27-15 Spell in a Box Wondrous Item for DnD 5e

I’ve heard this phrase a few times in game desing- “Spell in a Box”.  Might not be a great item to repeat a ton of times, but how about making one one time?

Spell in a Box

Rare

Magical masters often tire of their servants failing them time and time again.  This box is the result.  Any spellcaster may cast any spell into a Spell in a Box paying all costs at the time of the spells casting.  The spell remains active for a number of days equal to the spells level.  At anytime before the spell dissipates, anyone can use the Spell in a Box as an action to cast the spell.  When the spell is cast from the box, the spell uses original casters proficiency, ability modifier, and other bonuses to cast the spell, but the creature using the Spell in a Box may determine the effects, range, targets, and any other choices made when the spell is cast.

Daily Punch 7-14-15 Ravages of Nature spell for DnD 5e

How about a spell for DnD 5e?

Ravages of Nature

1st-level enchantment

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 100 feet

Components: V, S, M (sand of the desert and water of a glacier)

Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

You choose a creature in range and that creature in instantly ravaged by the harshest environments on the planet.  That creature makes a Constitution saving throw.  On a success, the spell ends with no effect.  On a failure, that creature receives on level of exhaustion.  Each turn as a bonus action, you can cause that creature to make another Constitution saving throw.  On a success, they do not improve, but on a failure, that creature increases their exhaustion level by one.  You can continue to cause the creature to be exhausted until it succeeds three saving throws in a row, it dies, or the duration of the spell ends.

Daily Punch 6-26-15 Inoj’s Repeating Insanity spell for DnD 5e

How about a spell for DnD 5e?

Inoj’s Repeating Insanity

1st-level enchantment

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 30 feet

Component: V, S, M (a riddle whispered into a bottle)

A creature of your choice that you can see in range is instantly confused by its surroundings.  The target must succeed on a Intelligence saving throw or lose its reaction and action each round.

At the end of each the creatures rounds, it makes another Intelligence saving throw.  If the creature takes damage or is assisted by an ally, it gains advantage on the saving throw.  If it succeeds on this saving throw, it is no longer affected by the spell.

At Higher Levels. When this spell is cast at 2nd level or higher, the creature must make an additional Intelligence saving throw at the start of its next turn if it succeeded on the first saving throw.  Each additional level adds another round that the creature must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw or be affected by the spell.  If the creature ever fails a saving throw, then any additional round that the creature would have to make saving throws because of casting this spell at a higher level are then lost.

Daily Punch 6-24-15 Escalating Assault feat for DnD 5e

Been really reading the Fighters maneuvers lately for DnD 5e.  Let’s add a feat to them!

Escalating Assault

You are the armored god of war guiding strikes, knocking foes down, or throwing your enemies across the battle field with anything you can hold on to.  Gain the following benefits:

  • Increase your strength or dexterity modifier by 1 to a maximum of 20.
  • When you spend a superiority die, you may spend two adding their results together.  You can do this a number of times per day equal to your strength or dexterity modifier.

Daily Punch 1-7-15 Draconic Focus feat for DnD 5e

Saw a player who really wanted more dragon breaths.  Let’s work on that…

 

Draconic Focus

Prerequisite: dragonborn

Some dragonborn avoid their draconic parentage.  You’ve embraced your and trained it.  Gain the following benefits:

  • Gain one extra use of your dragon breath power per rest.
  • Increase the DC of your dragon breath by 1
  • If you use your dragon breath to attack a creature that is resistant to your dragon breath damage type, that resistance only reduce the damage to 3/4, not 1/2.
