Daily Punch 2-4-13

Well last night I tried to post late, and WordPress was down.  Here we go again.  A metamagic feat for DnD Next and Pathfinder

Diminished Spell-Through shier power of will, you hold back the furry of your spells-Feat Metamagic-You may voluntarily reduce the DC of your spell by 2 or take a -4 penalty on a attack roll for a spell to make the damage from your spell subdual.

Something my players with they had last weekend!

Lets go back to my failure idea. I’ve bounced this idea around the Internet, and this seems like the consensus for pathfinder

Expanded failure range-feat-for any skill check that you may fail, but are allowed a range to fail within such as disable device, your new failure range is 5 +your ability modifier.

Talking with some people on the Paizo forums and this come up.  I think requiring the previous feat will really help make some healers into extraordinary battlefield leaders!

Radiant protection-Feat-Requires Efficient Healing-any creature that is the target of one of your healing effects receives a +2 Holy bonus to AC.  This bonus applied to Flat Footed and touch armor classes as well.  This bonus lasts until the end of your next turn.

Ring Side report: Winter Fantasy Day 3 and Daily Punch 1-28-12

First the Daily Punch then Winter Fantasy.  I saw the new 5-star DM do this at Winter Fantasy and I thought it was a great idea.  I think this kind of idea should spread across to different games like DnD next and DnD 4e.

Efficient Healing-Feat-When you channel healing power, you instinctively know how to provide the most efficient effects-Whenever you use a healing power, you re-roll the dice based on the type of die involved.  If you are healing a d4 or d6, you re-roll the die if you roll a 1.  On a d8, you re-roll the die on a 1 or 2.

For the Arcanis people out there

Talent

Tier 1:  Whenever you use an ability or power the restores stamina, re-roll all dice that restore stamina that result in a 1.

Tier 2: Whenever you use an ability or power that restores stamina, re-roll all dice that restore stamina that result in a 2 or 1.

Tier 3: Whenever you use an ability or power that restores stamina, re-roll all dice that restore stamina that result in a 3, 2, or 1.

Tier 4: Whenever you use an ability or power that restores stamina, re-roll all dice that restore stamina that result in a 4, 3, 2, or 1.

And now Winter Fantasy day 3-last day of the con

Well the last day of the con was a great one.  My wife and I only had one event.

DnD Next:High Level-Well I can’t get into nitty-gritty because of the NDA, but this was a fun one.  I was originally pretty iffy on how this morning was going to go.  I was thinking of leaving for some more pathfinder, but my wife convinced me.  We had a full boat with six players.  And it was awesome.  I had a blast and really enjoyed it.  Some of the new mechanics from the previous playtest at Gen Con were iffy the day before, but today were awesome.  I am ready to try this out more and I really do look forward to the future of this game.  Some things I want to change, but I do look forward to see where it goes from here!

Things I wish I could have done-

BI-Well I did miss the battle interactive.  This is the first Winter Fantasy I did.  I really love the BI at heroic tier, but at paragon you have to specialize so much its not a fun for me since I like the more skill monkey characters who might defend or heal as a side job.  Yes I know that that making my characters more focused would help, but its not what I want for some of them, and that makes the paragon tier not as much fun for me.  Glad to see some crazy stuff went down though

The sequel to Fiasco RPG/LARP-Kind of with I got into this one.  I’ve never tired Fiasco, but it looks strange in a good way.  I mean how weird could it be?

Cards Against Humanity-this is a horrible game in a great way.  I need to play this!

All and all a great con and I love this one.  If you get a chance, see you there in 2014

Daily Punch 1-23-13

I made a feat before (daily punch 1-18-13  http://wp.me/p2Gk5z-6o)  that added to the range you could fail a check without something really bad happening, here is a different idea.  Before I thought about adding a static +3 to the range , may be a better idea would be to add your ability modifier to the range to reflect your innate ability?

Here is a feat for 4th Edition DnD, Arcanis, DnD Next, and Pathfinder:

Careful climber-feat- instead of failing and falling off a wall if you fail by 5 or more, you fail and fall off a wall if you fail by 5 + your strength modifier.  If you fail by less then that amount, you make no progress that round.

Thoughts?  Is this better then the other idea?

Daily Punch 1-18-13

I was thinking about this while fixing my wife’s computer, I think its a nice feat for Pathfinder, 4e, and DnD next.  Maybe even Arcanis…

Four fingered lucky mine defuser-feat-you might not be the most pretty, but you’re lucky!-Add 3 to the range of a missed disable device or equivalent check.  ie the trap will not go off if you miss a disable device check by up to 7 in Pathfinder

Here is something I thought about while watching the news that applies to as many RPGs as you can think of

Smooth Manipulator-Feat-Whenever you make a social skill check to improve your relationship with another person, you improve your relationship one additional step.

Ideas from my wife for pathfinder
Quite casting-feat-if you are hidden at the start of a spell you may make a stealth check opposed by perception. If you win this check, you cast the spell and remain hidden from all opponents. Anyone affected my the spell is flat footed to its effects.

A nice teamwork on this one!

Daily Punch 1-14-13

This came up in our game yesterday. This is pretty system neutral. Something to help when you need a feat….

Family history-feat-you may add a single trait to your character. This feat does not add any abilities of that origin to your character. For example a half-Orc may add fey to his character to qualify for feats.
