Daily Punch 6-18-15 Built like an Ox Feat for DnD 5e

Last of the dual saves!

Built Like an Ox

You beat obstacles with your muscles and when those fail you, you beat them by running through them.  Sometimes…. it’s a bit of both.  Gain the following benefits:

  • Constitution saving throws can be made using your Strength modifier, and Strength saving throws can be made using your Constitution modifier.
  • If you add your proficiency bonus to both Constitution and Strength saving throws, add 1 and 1/2 (rounded down) your proficiency bonus instead.

Daily Punch 6-16-15 Force of Will feat for DnD 5e

I liked the 4e DnD ideas of Will saves being Charisma or Wisdom.  Let’s see if we can’t bring that back…

Force of Will

Your mind is a fortress unto its own.  Gain the following benefits:

  • Wisdom saving throws can be made using your Charisma modifier, and Charisma saving throws can be made using your Wisdom modifier.
  • If you add your proficiency bonus to both Charisma and Wisdom saving throws, add 1 and 1/2 (rounded down) your proficiency bonus instead.

Daily Punch 6-4-15 Escalating Assault feat for DnD 5e

I see a lot of builds out there for two weapon fighters.  Let’s build on that.

Escalating Assault

You are a master of multiple strikes making each more painful than the last.  Each time you attack with a melee weapon, do damage, and are able to add your strength modifier to the damage, increase the damage by the number of times your successfully damaged the target.  As an example, your second attack would do double damage, your third would do triple, and so on.

Daily Punch 5-28-15 Collapsible Poll item for DnD 5e

You know why haflings are horrible thieves?  10 foot poll is three size categories larger than them!  How they going to get this anywhere?  Let’s fix that.

Collapsible Poll

Cost: 20 gp

A 10 lb iron poll. that collapses into a one foot dowel.  It takes an  action to extend the poll.  It ways enough when swung at  a foot pad to set it off with the weight of an average medium creature.

Daily Punch 5-25-15 Malleus Maleficarum fighter archetype for DnD 5e

How about some fun for DnD 5e? Haven’t done that in a while, but I think it’s time to do a fighter build.  Let’s make one that hunts magic users!

Malleus Maleficarum

You hate magic.  You’ve studied long and hard to make those who use it pay.  Be it the evil wizards who may have enslaved your family, the vile cleric who sacrificed your parents, or the capricious warlock who seduced your lover-you hate all who use the art.  Now, you’ve honed your weapons, more specifically your hammers, to deal with those who cast spells.  You’ve suffered, and now they’re going to pay!

Magic Dissonance

At 3rd level, you’ve mastered the art of distraction.  When you are engaged with any spell casting creature and they cast a spell, you can spend a reaction to force them to make a Constitution saving throw with the DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your strength or dexterity modifier.  If they fail, they lose the spell.

Magic Resistance

At 7th level, you have mastered the art of spell resistance.  You gain advantage on all saving throws against spells cast against you.  You can choose when this effect is applied, and if you want to make a saving throw at all if you are aware of the spell.

Hex Hammer

At 10th level, when you strike a foe with a hammer or hammer-like weapon that does bludgeoning damage and the foe tries to cast a spell, they gain disadvantage on the Constitution saving throw from your Magic Dissonance class feature.

Magic Immunity

At 15th level, if you succeed at a saving throw and the spell would still affect you even if you succeed, you are now no longer affected by the spell at all.  If you fail a saving throw against a spell and the spell has an effect on a success, you are only effected by the effect of the spell as if you had succeed on the spell saving throw.

The True Spell Hammer

Starting at 18th level, you no longer have to spend a reaction to use your Magic Dissonance class feature.

Daily Punch 4-20-15 Barrister background for DnD 5e

If we’re making Daredevil in DnD 5e, we need somewhere who knows the law.  Let’s make an old timey lawyer- a barrister!

Barrister

You know the law.  You’ve trained under smart men and women who taught you how to speak and how to convince.  You’re smart, driven, and convinced that the law is the only way to get true justice.

Skill Proficiencies: Persuasion, Nobility

Languages: Two of your choice

Equipment:A set of fine clothing, four books of local law from your home region, and a belt pouch containing 15 gp

Feature: Ability to Defend

As a barrister, you know the local law of most locations.  This provides you with the ability to defend those who run afoul of it, including yourself.  When you or an ally are accused of a crime by a lawful entity, you may speak in the defense of those individuals.  You are not guaranteed success, but you know how to ask for a trial instead of swift, brutal justice.  Also, any non lawful group such a mob may not listen to any defense you mount for you or your clients.

d8 Personality

1 I follow a barrister from the past as an example of how to live and how to interact with the law.

2 I use the law to my own ends twisting phrases as I see fit.

3 I see the law is merely a guideline that can be rigid or flexible as it needs to be.  This is how I see most of life.

4 The law as written is infallible and must be defended as such!

5 The fringes of the world need the gift of law to truly become great places.

6 I strive to constantly change the law to generate a more just society.

7 I will only serve the just and the law guides me to them.

8 Those who break the law often have deep pockets and thus must be defended from the law.

d6 Ideal

1 Greed. Only the finest in life will do! (Chaotic)

Order.  Without law we are no better than beasts. (Lawful)

Generosity. The weak must be defend by and from the law. (Good)

4 Authority. From the law, I demand control. (Evil)

Community. The law bring people together through common goals and hopes. (Good)

Aspiration. The law allows me a chance to better improve myself through a trade. (Any)

d6 Bond

1 Being a barrister doesn’t start cheep, and I’m indebted to someone.

2 I was on the wrong side of the law, and someone saved me from that fate.  Now I’m working to help others in the same boat.

3 I saved one of my companions from some repercussions of their actions.  Now I’m waiting for them to pay up.

4 I will make the world a better place one argument at a time.

5 I come from a place of chaos and now have seen a place ruled by order.  I will spread that order.

6 My family was poor, but found me this trade.  I will never let them be poor again!

d6 Bond

1 I can’t turn down those in trouble, no matter what the cause.

2 I can’t stand the poor.

3 If you don’t have coin then you are most likely guilty.

4 I can see guilt from a mile away.

5 I think everyone is innocent even when the evidence says otherwise.

6 I’m not proud of what I’ve done or said, and any who remind me get my full wrath.
