I have a player who’s a face who wants to get bonuses when he’s tippsy.  Let’s make that happen.

Liquid Encouragement

Cost: 5 Karma per rank( 1 to 3 ranks)

Requirement: Addition(alcohol) quality

Sometimes you need a little bit of encouragement.  You get yours from a bottle.  When you’ve a bit bit to drink ( or a bit more), you get a little looser, and its gets everybody a little more money when you meet with the Johnson.  For every rank you have in this quality, you may take a -1 dice pool penalty in all logic checks and gain an equal bonus to all Social skills, a bonus to Social Limit, and High Pain tolerance equal to the total bonus gained by this quality.

I recently rewatched the the Super Mario Bros. movie.  While it might be somewhat painful, it also wasn’t as bad as I expected!  I did get one idea from that movie as I watched.  Let’s make a combat ax a slightly better choice!

Jet Ax:Where would your Neo Viking be without an ax that that has it’s own cyber-linked gasjet?  This ax can be used as a regular ax that with an accuracy of 5, AP -3, while doing (STR+7)P damage.  However, as a complex action using a wireless smartlink, a canister of CO2 can be fired shooting the ax ahead at an impressive speed using the better stats of the weapon.  Each canister has five charges before it must be replaced as a complex action.

I have a few ideas for my character, and I want to take more then the 25 karma worth of problems.  Sure I can roleplay it, but let’s make it official and give me some starting karma for it!

Personal Problems

Cost: 5 karma

You’re pretty beat to heck.  For everything you got going for you, you’ve got two  that make it worse!  You can take up to an extra 25 karma worth of negative qualities, and instantly gain that much karma.

I have a character that I want to be burned by magic so bad, he’s not magical.  Let’s make that happen in Shadowrun 5e.

Astral Burnout

Bonus: 20 karma

Magic is fickle.  Sometimes people do something to make it more so.  Some get amazing powers, while some get this.  You now count as dual natured for magic.  You gain none of the magical benefits to being dual natured, but all the negative effects of dual natured creatures now apply. You do not gain the ability to enter the astral plain fully or the ability to persevere astrally from this quality, but other effects may still give you those abilities.

I’ve been catching up on some Shadowrun, and I thought of this as I went through Run Faster….

Loyal Servants

Be it your loving parents, a wife/husband, or the kindly butler who rescued you from the orphanage, you have someone(s) who serve you in maintaining your house, but won’t turn you over the the first goganger who offers them money.  The people who maintain your house are loyal to you and will never provide an opportunity to hurt you or any information about you.  This does not guarantee their safety.  Increase the security level and limits by 1, and reduce the available points of the lifestyle by 3.  The base lifestyle must be medium or higher to take this option.

You can get lighting reflexes and stay mundane and not cybered.  Let’s build on that!

Speed of Thought

Cost: 30 Karma

Prerequisite: Lightning Reflexes

You’re faster than fast.  You’ve either trained for it, or you were born with it.  Gain +1 to initiative rating and a bonus dice.  This stacks with lightning reflexes and nothing else.  Also, increase the bonus on defense tests by +1.

How about some love for Shadowrun?  What if you could get a touch of black ice for you deck?

Lite Ice was reverse engineered by back alley deckers who’ve had their brains burned a few too many times by Black Ice.  When you have this program active, any device or icon you have a mark on and has three boxes of matrix damage takes a -1 to all actions.  The target takes additional penalties for each full three boxes of matrix damage beyond the first three up to the rating of Lite Ice you have running.

Daily Punch 1-29-15 Expert Social Edge idea for Shadowrun 5e

In Run and Gun on page 126, there are several combat edge ideas added to Shadowrun.  What about being able to use edge in a non-combat setting?  How about being an expert in something? (Most likely to bull drek about it latter!)

 

Expert

You’re an expert.  People know your an expert because other people say your an expert.  That’s how it works.  When you make a social test and have ranks in a knowledge skill, you can spend a point of edge to add those ranks to your dice pool.  You must explain how being an expert in the specific skill adds to the use of this skill in this context.
